Bacterial Genomics & Antimicrobial Resistance (5-day Workshop)

This five-day workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive overview of bacterial genomics and its applications in antimicrobial resistance research. Through lectures and hands-on sessions, participants will learn how to analyze bacterial genomes for antimicrobial resistance and virulence factors, conduct comparative genomic analysis, and apply bacterial genomics to investigate clinical and scientific problems.

Program Outline & Learning Objectives

  • Understand the fundamental principles of bacterial genomics and bioinformatics.
  • Perform genome assembly and annotation, moving from raw sequence data to complete genomes.
  • Identify and analyze antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes within bacterial sequences.
  • Execute comparative genomic analyses and construct phylogenetic trees to understand evolutionary relationships.
  • Evaluate and apply bacterial genomics techniques to real-world public health and clinical research challenges.
