A Day at the Lab: Phage Isolation our Thesis Student
27 June, 2026
Zafreen Islam, our thesis student from North South University, is carrying out one of the most important steps of her undergraduate research — phage isolation!
All her hard work over the past few months has been leading up to this process. Here, she isolates bacteriophages from plaques on bacterial plates to prepare phage suspensions used in downstream processes such as purification, host-range testing and different analyses.
Her months of effort and dedication reflect the spirit of young scientists in the lab and remind us of CHRF’s mission to build the next generation of scientists.
