We’re excited to share that in June 2025, Dr. Sudipta Deb Nath and Saffat Reaz represented CHRF at the 8th Asia Dengue Summit in Manila, Philippines—a global gathering held under the theme “Towards zero dengue deaths: Science, strategy, and solidarity.”
Nearly 700 delegates from 22 countries gathered to exchange ideas and explore innovative strategies against the rising threat of dengue. Our team presented findings from ongoing research at CHRF, where over 1,400 serum samples were serotyped for dengue virus (DENV), and 11 have been sequenced so far from samples collected at Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute (BSHI) and Kumudini Women’s Medical College & Hospital (KWMCH). This work highlights the serotype distribution, genomic diversity, and transmission patterns of DENV in Bangladesh over a 5-year span—supporting evidence-based public health interventions.
Over four impactful days, discussions covered policy, vaccine rollout, surveillance, communication, and vector control. A post-summit workshop, supported by the World Mosquito Program, emphasized the role of local leadership in implementing strategies like releasing Wolbachia-infected Aedes mosquitoes to help curb dengue transmission.
We’re proud to contribute to global dengue research and action—because ending dengue deaths isn’t just about innovation. It’s about implementation, collaboration, and a shared global commitment to achieving zero dengue deaths by 2030!
